Pain Relief with MyTens

Hi!

I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. With winter in full swing many of us are not willing to face the cold to make that trip to the gym; I honestly have not been to the gym in 2 months+. This is why I am collaborating with BeWellConnect to promote their MyTens electrical muscle stimulation device!

PSX_20181130_102029.jpgKeeping my muscles strong is important because I have two muscles in my lower back that tend cause discomfort when I stop exercising and it causes immobilizing pain. Lately I have been using BeWellConnect’s  MyTens to help strengthen  my muscles. MyTens uses electrical muscle stimulation to strengthen healthy muscles. Now I have not completely replaced my back exercises with this device, I still do at home workouts, but, I can easily add this device to my routine while I watch a movie or scroll through Instagram.

MyTens comes with 19 preset programs. You charge the device via USB port and connect it to your phone via bluetooth. The MyTens app is required to control the device, which is what makes their device so much different than any others, first, you choose which category you want: pain relief, relaxation, muscle stimulation or fitness. From there, you click on the part of the body you want to target and it shows you various way you can position the electrodes.  After this, step, you then pair the device (very simple and easy) and you can begin to control your session. The best part is that the app remains running in the background while you do other things on your phone. You can also control the stimulation intensity,  which, should never be painful, but, should be just outside of your comfort zone. I personally go for a # 7 intensity and feel as though this works best for me!  After your sessions, you can save it to your favorite and continue logging your progress every time you use the device.

I have personally used electrical muscle stimulation for over a year in physical therapy. I’m really happy to have an FDA-approved in-home device that I can use at my own convenience and as needed without scheduling a babysitter and appointment with my physical therapist.  I have personally used this device to strengthen muscles in my abdomen and lower back, and to relax tense muscles in my shoulders. I have not reached for the Tylenol bottle since my BeWellConnect MyTens arrived. Most of my pains are caused my muscle tension and weakened muscles so as long as I exercised and I keep my muscles relaxed I am in good shape.

  1. Thanks for sharing this post. I have dealt with a herniated disc since my early twenties and a TENS machine has been such a help on days where I feel like I can’t almost walk without excruciating pain. It definitely doesn’t completely take all pain away from me but it does make it to where I can get through the day. I will definitely check out this model it looks like it’s a lot more of an update to the one I have. Thanks @hippie79

    1. I’ve been rushed to the ER, unable to move because of back pains. EMS isn’t a miracle but paired with my DR recommended exercises I am in great shape! It really was way more modern than I expected. Let me know if it works better for you!

    1. with pain therapy there is no guarantee, I would recommend trying EMS therapy if covered under by your insurance. If it’s not covered a physical therapy session may run you more than the MyTens Unit. Good luck, I hope you find relief for your pain!

  3. I have a lot of pain in my back from a pinched nerve. I’ve always wondered if devices like these really worked. Thank you so much for the review! I think I will give it a try!

    1. My mom uses mine to help with a pinched nerve. I highly recommend it for you if the nerve is pinched by muscle contractions/tension. But be very careful to not try to use a setting to high. make sure the EMS is comfortable at all times. It’s like a massage, some ppl like it deep and hard and some of us prefer a surface rub know what you’re comfortable with.

  4. I’ve been wanting to get one of these for quite some time now, and I think I’m definitely going to ask my doctor about it next time I go see him! I had back surgery four years ago for a tethered spinal cord, and my job as a phlebotomist does such a number on my already sore back. I’m actually excited to see if I can finally get one of these things!

    1. yikes, well my back pain is no where near there but I have scoliosis and two muscles in my lower left that are prone to dislocation, I would literally be laying flay on my back, get tensed and feel it love out of place.
